My dad has never been there for me emotionally, and he has verbally abused me since I was young. Don’t get me wrong, he has done nice things for me, but ever since I can remember, we have never got along. For my UC application, the prompt is "Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations" Is it okay to talk about how my abusive dad has shaped me into someone stronger? He has pushed me to pursue my passion of becoming a veterinarian. I have been volunteering with animal rescue since I was 14 as a way to escape from the pressure/issues of my life. I’ve been very involved with rescue and I have been down to Tijuana many times to assist in rescuing animals. What I’m trying to ask is, is it okay for me to talk about these types of things in my college essay? Thank you for your input.

New Moon Essay Theme HELP ASAP!!?

My essay is on New Moon and i cant think of a theme. My sentence is….
In the book New Moon by Stephanie Meyer, the main character Bella Swan demonstrates the theme of _______. I cant think of a theme. Here is my essay.
Love, Only Alone
Imagine what it would feel like to have the one you love leave you to keep you safe. You see him at night when you sleep only he’s not in your dreams, he’s in your nightmares. In the book New Moon by Stephanie Meyer, the main character Bella Swan demonstrates the theme of _______. In this book Bella is not only heartbroken, she is heartbroken alone.
As soon as Edward Cullen, Bella’s true love left her, she had nightmares every night. Bella missed Edward terribly mostly because of the relationship they had. The only way she saw him in her mind was when she did dangerous things and as soon as she found this out she was about to start something new. This shows that Bella was very desperate to see Edward Cullen. This also shows that Bella is willing to do anything to find Edward and make things normal again. Bella rode on motorcycles with people she didn’t know and talked to strangers just to see Edward. This shows that Bella didn’t care if she got hurt as long as she got her way. This also shows that Edwards’s absence has made Bella completely crazy. If Bella keeps torturing herself, she could get killed.
Bella wanted to torture herself more because she had missed Edward so much. Bella had her childhood friend Jacob fix some motorcycles and teach her how to ride. At first it didn’t matter if she got hurt or not as long as she saw Edward but later, Bella realized that with Jacob, She had fun and wasn’t sad. This shows that Jacob and Bella were good friends. This also shows that Jacob helped Bella in her time of need. Bella saw Jacob’s friends jumping off cliffs into the water and decided to join so she could see Edward. When Jacob saves her after she nearly killed herself, Bella learns that it’s time to move on over Edward. This shows that Bella finally accepted Edward’s absence and moved on. This also shows that Jacob’s rescue put some sense into Bella. Bella could finally move on with her life and start fresh.
In Conclusion, Bella learned that she should not torture herself just to see the one she loves because it’s not worth it. She also learned that sometimes the things that she thought made her miserable actually made her life better and worthwhile. This theme connects to our world because ………. Imagine if everyone in the world…..
